Her father is an Argentine who is of Scottish and English descendance. Her mother is of Spanish and English heritage. Taylor Joy is the youngest of four siblings, one from each of her parents' previous marriages. The family was in Buenos Aires until she was six, after which they moved to the Victoria part of London. Taylor-Joy says the move into London was difficult and that she didn't learn English to avoid moving back to Argentina. The school she attended had to be changed between Northlands in order to attend Hill House. After that, she attended Queen's Gate School and studied ballet while acting in the school's plays. At 16, she quit the school in order to focus fully on acting. Taylor-Joy grew up as an actor who knew she would become an actor. The realization of her dreams came when Sarah Doukas, the founder of Storm Management offered her a modeling job.
